Interior Design for Small Home OfficeIntroducing a new feature here at ATinyHouse.com where we put together an entire room or area for you so you can see how furniture items can work together in your small home or apartment. Up first is a modern tiny office, and I have to confess that several of these pieces are actually going to make up our new office that is being built next month. I’ll definitely show you updates, but for now, let’s talk! First up are Eames inspired chairs with an Eiffel base, aren’t they adorable? Of course the vintage library card catalog is essential to hold all those small items. It’s perfect for a studio apartment or tiny house to store kitchen supplies, office supplies, even bottles of wine. It really is an all purpose piece that will fit almost anywhere, and being able to label the drawers is wonderful for a small space. The desk I’ve chosen because it can do double duty as a dining table and the x pattern legs give it a bit more interest than standard table legs. The copper chandelier gives the space a hint of romance without being overpowering, and the copper fireplace sets the mood for the entire room. Maybe a fireplace is a bit much in a tiny office, but if the space has to function as a dining area as well, then it adds a bit of homeliness with the added addition of being a green heating source!

This gorgeous little Luxembourg folding table is perfect for the living room, bedroom, office, wherever you need a little table for extra space. At only 10 lbs it’s easy to move. The antiqued rust top gives the table a rustic feeling that will assimilate into most decors. It’s not often you come across a piece of furniture that be considered both modern and vintage.

Furniture that does double duty is always a plus in a small house. Luckily for you this little table can actually serve several functions in your living space. The wood cube acts as a side table with storage, and with the added carrying handle cutouts on the sides it can easily be moved to function as extra seating for guests. Pair it up with another cube for a functioning coffee table, or even as table seating. The tapered design gives it some architectural interest as well!

One of the old rules about small spaces is not using bold or large patterns. Much like not wearing white after Labor day, this rule is mularky! You CAN rock white after Labor day, and a bold pattern on a striking piece of furniture or even a focal point wall can do wonders for a small space. This love seat has wonderful lines with an open feel because of the lack of arms. It’s great for a tiny house to avoid that boxy feeling that a traditional couch can give. The smoke color can be updated with pillows, or accented by a wall in a bright color to change things up and update throughout the seasons at little expense.

I’m a cuddler and voracious reader, so finding the perfect sofa that is comfortable, stylish, small, and yet functional for a small house is important. The Fat Sofa by Patricia Urquiola reminds me of a chair and a half but without looking too slumpy as some do.

The Fat Sofa can be covered in leather, fabric or a combination so it can fit any decor. I love the soft lines that are still structured, and the modern back is a nice touch.
